One Day in Your Life – 3 June 1985

The number one song in Australia on this day (when we were in year 12) was We Are The World by USA for Africa (United Support of Artists for Africa). This was America’s answer to Do They Know it’s Christmas? The song was written by Michael Jackson and Lionel Ritchie and produced by Quincy Jones. It was recorded on January 28 1985, the night of the American Music Awards. This was to ensure that as many artists as possible would be available on a single date. The only non-American artists performing were Dan Aykroyd (who is Canadian) and Bob Geldof (Irish)
