One Day in Your Life – 80s Music Tragics #30

The number one song this week in1981, when we were in Year 8, was Stop Draggin’ My Heart Around by Stevie Nicks.  The first single from her debut solo album Bella Donna, it was the only song on the album not written or co-written by Nicks.

The song was written by Tom Petty and Mike Campbell as a Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers song originally.  Tom Petty sang on the chorus and bridge and the Heartbreakers played, Donald “Duck” Dunn of Booker T and the MGs and the Blue Brothers substituted for bass player Ron Blair
